EMT class, ‘take & bake’ classes start soon at Career Academy

People interested in earning an EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) license to assist with ambulance and rescue units in the area have the opportunity to take classes this year. Iowa Central Community College and the Greene County Career Academy in Jefferson will hold classes beginning on Jan. 11 and running through April 12. Classes meet in person on Thursdays from 6 to 10 p.m.

Several “take and bake” classes are planned. Each class begins with sampling the meal before making the meal for four persons to take and bake at home.

The schedule includes: Pizza Party with Tim Christensen, Tuesday, Jan. 23, from 6:30 to 8 pm; Pork tenderloin with chef Denise Moranville, Tuesday, Feb. 13, from 6 to 8 pm; Break making with Tim Christensen, Tuesday, March 19, from 6:30 to 8 pm; and Garlic chicken with chef Denise Moranville, Tuesday, April 16, from 6 to 8 pm.

There is a fee to participate.

Also, Heartsaver Adult / Child / Infant CPR / AED / First Aid, Wednesday, Feb. 28 1, from 2:30 to 4:30 pm; and Turning Conflict into Constructive Behavior, Tuesday, April 2, from 2 to 4 pm.
